How is GPA Calculated?
The GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the following formula:
GPA = Total Grade Points / Total Credit Hours
Where Total Grade Points = Sum of (Grade Value × Credit Hours for each course).
Worked Examples
Example 1: US Scale (4.0)
- Math: A (4.0) × 3 credits = 12.0 points
- Physics: B (3.0) × 4 credits = 12.0 points
- History: A- (3.7) × 3 credits = 11.1 points
- Total: 35.1 points / 10 credits = 3.51 GPA
Example 2: Without Credits (Weight = 1)
If all your courses have equal weight, just leave credits as 1 for all of them. The calculation works exactly like a simple average of your grade points.
